Ofgem has approved £23.4mn funding request from Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission (SHET) for a project to reduce visual amenity impacts in the Cairngorms National Park.
The determination, published on 28 May, sets out Ofgem’s intentions to introduce a new Enhancing Pre-existing Infrastructure for SHET under the RIIO-T1 price control, which will allow the licensee to adjust its allowed expenditure.
SHET’s project will reduce the impact of electricity transmission infrastructure on the visual amenity of the Cairngorms National Park by replacing 12.3km of 132kV overhead line with 14.1km of underground cable by 2020.
