Most advertising in Scottish Energy News is in the form of a banner, which is an image linked to a URL. The “double bill” is different – please read the description carefully!

It is the advertiser’s responsibility to provide a suitable image and URL with each order. We are happy to help with advice, image conversion and so on. We can also put you in touch with a designer who can design an advert for you if desired.

These appear between articles in the main column of our email newsletter and consist of a simple image and a URL. The the image file’s specification is as follows:

Format JPEG, GIF or PNG
Width 560px
Height 170px*

* The exact height of a banner image is not critical.

Animated GIFs

Movement can help to draw attention to your advert. Animated GIFs also offer more “real estate” on the screen than static ones. Leave enough time for the text to be read, but also try to “keep it moving” so that the reader does not lose interest. If designing discrete slides, 0.8 to 2 seconds per slide is about right.

The Double Bill

In addition to the image+link format listed above, Scottish Energy News offers combination-type adverts which consist of a text+picture format in the newsletter.

There are three elements to such adverts: headline (same as our article headlines, always shown over a black background); an image and some copy for an “article” which may include hyperlinks, images etc. Two sizes are available, as outlined below.

Newsletter mini-article

This can be either a single image 560 pixels wide and 400 pixels high (exact height is not critical), or it can be a mix of copy and images of approximately that size.

Website banner and article
