Energy UK recently hosted its annual Parliamentary Reception on the House of Commons’ Terrace, providing an opportunity for members, stakeholders and parliamentarians to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the industry today.
The reception featured speeches from Ed Davey, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Angela Knight, Chief Executive of Energy UK, host Dan Byles, MP ,and Tara McGeehan, Director of Utilities at CGI.
Angela Knight said later that this year’s reception was a ‘great success – and we’re already booking up dates for next year.”
Meanwhile, as sponsor, CGI provided a wonderful historical flourish illustrating the company’s long links with the energy sector right through from vesting in the early 1990s and presented guests with a complementary limited-edition copy of ‘GB Electricity Industry For Dummies’ to ‘make everything easier’.
Energy Minister Ed Davey humourously remarked: ‘I wouldn’t be at all surprised if my civil servants now try to sneak a copy of ‘Electricity for Dummies’ into my Ministerial boxes!”
