These images of proposed ‘people-pylons’ were the winning entry to a competition to design new electricity grid infrastructure in Iceland by US design gurus Jin Choi and Thomas Shine.

The designers say they are as cost-effective as traditional pylons but add a greater aesthetic value and engage popular opinion with what are – literally – utility-y-arian – products.

A highly-placed Scots renewables lobbyist commented: “We don’t care what they look like – just as long as they shut the anti-wind-farmers up…”
