The Glasgow-based Arcus Consultancy has been awarded a contract worth over £110,000 by Scottish Enterprise to vary planning permissions for the large-scale Hunterston Demonstrator wind farm.

The company has been contracted to arrange planning permission for a large wind turbine measuring up to up to 220m and two meteorological masts to achieve a target construction date of the third quarter of 2015. The approved application is for 3 turbines of up to 198.5m and associated infrastructure.

SSE has control of two turbines while Scottish Enterprise has control over the third and of the two turbines under the control of SSE, one turbine is operational while the other is under construction.

Turbine foundation construction works are intended to commence prior to September 2015 at the latest. Scottish Enterprise has forecast that planning permission may be achievable by August 2015 enabling pre-construction conditions to be purified prior to November 2015.

Meanwhile, Gillian Kyle, a Chartered Town Planner, has joined Arcus Glasgow as a senior planning consultant.
