Waste management provide Binn Group announced on 9 January that it has lodged revised plans with Perth and Kinross Council to progress the £70mn development of an energy from waste plant at Binn EcoPark near Glenfarg. The revised plans envisage increasing the plant capacity from 60,000 tonnes to 84,900 tonnes per annum.
Binn Group Chief Executive Allan MacGregor said: “If plans are approved, we would hope to start work later this year, creating 200 jobs during the 28-month construction and development phase, with 30 permanent jobs once the plant is operational – hopefully by early 2023.” He continued: “The work represents a £70mn capital investment and will ultimately result in an estimated Gross Value Added (GVA) of around £12.6mn for Scotland and £2.8mn locally.”
