The head of the UK’s largest manufacturer of onshore wind turbine towers and a supplier of key components to the offshore wind sector will this week issue a rallying call to the British renewables supply chain.
Mark Coia, Managing Director of Mabey Bridge Renewables, is to call for a greater presence for British manufacturers in the renewables supply chain in a speech at the UK’s largest renewable energy event this week.
The speech, in Aberdeen at All-Energy 2014, will call for the British supply chain to work better together to support the next generation of offshore wind developments.
Coia said: “The British renewables supply chain has progressed considerable in recent years but there’s still more work to do.
“If we look to other countries such as Denmark, Germany and South Korea we see a far more developed supply chain with great coordination between suppliers”.
“Whilst the British supply chain is helping us meet our renewable energy ambitions and creating jobs and growth we cannot rest on our laurels. We need to keep the momentum up”.
He will also argue why a stable government policy for renewable energy infrastructure is needed to enable businesses to invest and help coordinate manufacturing nationally.
