Fife-based BVG Associates has been appointed to help Scottish companies to make the most of £60 billion worth of renewable energy opportunities via the Scot-Govt’s Offshore Wind Expert Support Framework.
Scotland is leading the world in floating offshore wind development and has helped the UK become a market leader in offshore wind in general. Scotland already boasts a strong, capable and dynamic offshore supply chain.
With seven major renewable energy projects planned for the waters around Scotland, Scottish companies are ideally placed to make the most of the local, national and international business opportunities presented by the growth of the sector.
Under the support framework, eligible companies will be able to tap into BVG’s experience within the offshore wind industry. BVG will assess what a company has to offer the industry, identify the market opportunity for them, and advise them on the best way to approach the market. This helps them gain a competitive edge to enter or grow in offshore wind.
BVG Associates is an independent consultancy with expertise in the technology, implementation and economics of renewable energy generation systems.
Alan Duncan, Senior Associate, BVG, explained: “It is important to us that Scottish suppliers do not miss the chance to build-up experience, skills and capacity in the offshore wind markets.”
“Ultimately, the purpose of our work is to maximise the economic benefit of this growing sector, helping create real, lasting jobs for Scotland.”
Applicants will receive bespoke expert advice in areas such as market sizing, socio-economic modelling, business planning, market entry strategy development and technical due diligence.
ALAN DUNCAN is one of many prominent speakers at SCOTLAND’S RENEWABLE FUTURE forum. He will speak on the topic: “Where Did the Saudi Arabia of Renewables Go Wrong?”
