Carbon Trust launches floating wind technology acceleration competition

The Carbon Trust’s Floating Wind Joint Industry Project launched a competition on 11 September aimed at accelerating the development and commercialisation of floating wind farms.

The Carbon Trust expects that, by 2030, a further 12GW of floating wind capacity could be built globally, requiring around £32.4bn of capital investment.

Successful applicants could receive up to £250,000 in Scottish government grant funding to progress the development of floating offshore wind farm technology.

The deadline for applications is 5 November, with project start date in December 2019/January 2020. Projects must be completed by 31 January 2021.
