Cheshire-based Community Windpower Ltd (CWL) has become a new member of the Dumfries and Galloway Renewable Energy Partnership (DG-REP) group.
The DG-REP, formed in March 2013, is made up of public and private sector organisations from across the region that are involved or interested in renewable energy and energy efficiency.
Its aim is to secure the maximum economic and employment benefits from the development of the renewable energy sector for the benefit of the region and its communities. It recently published its Renewable Energy Action Plan for Dumfries and Galloway.
Earlier this year, CWL carried out a series of ‘Meet the Buyer’ events throughout the Dumfries and Galloway area to promote opportunities available for local companies in two of its wind farm developments – Sanquhar Community Wind Farm ( which has received planning consent) and Auchleand Community Wind Farm, which is currently in the planning process.
Those attending the events discovered how they could be involved with the wind farms and how to become part of the supply chain to deliver them. In addition, they heard from Shelley Bell, Economic Development Officer, Dumfries and Galloway Council, who introduced the area’s Renewable Energy Action Plan as part of the DG-REP.
