The energy industry employs workers up and down the country and, unlike many industries, has increased job opportunities. Between 2008 and 2013, employment in the energy sector grew by 30 per cent – a total of around 28,000 new employees.
“Energy is bucking any northern ‘brain drain ‘ with nearly nine out of ten new jobs being created outside the Capital and south east. The energy industry employs people all over the country, boosting the economy of the north, as well as the south.
“You only need to look as far as the investment contracts recently announced by DECC to see that new plants are being built north, south, east and west.
“These projects bring jobs and investment to all corners of the country making the energy sector a truly nation-wide industry.”
