Energy North – the umbrella trade association for all key GOR sectors (gas, oil and renewables) in northern Scotland – has appointed Stuart Deed as its new chief executive.
He succeeds Ian Couper, who stood down earlier this year after eight years in the job.
Having worked with many of the industry’s leading names including Exxon Mobil and SSE, Deed brings over 25 years’ experience to the post. Most recently he has been working as a consultant, supporting young and evolving businesses to navigate the sector.
He is also a member a number of boards including the Scottish Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association (SHFCA) and the Perth and Kinross Green Technology Business Accelerator.
Energy North chairman Sidney Johnston commented: “By working closely with our members and key stakeholders including Highlands and Islands Enterprise, regional councils, Holyrood and Westminster, Stuart will be instrumental in achieving real results for the north energy industry.
“Businesses in the north of Scotland have tremendous potential and an enormous amount to gain from the energy sector. Under Stuart’s leadership, Energy North will continue to work hard to maximise this potential for the benefit of members as well as the communities we serve.”
