Energy UK publishes latest sources of UK power generation

GB Generation mix September 2014 – September 2015

The latest data from Energy UK, shows that in September 2015, power delivered to the UK grid was generated in the following proportions by the following types of generator: –

  • Gas power stations: 36.61%
  • Nuclear: 22.84%
  • Coal: 19.24%
  • Wind: 5.77%
  • Hydro: 0.51%
  • Interconnectors: 8.84% net (with 6.10% from France and 2.78% from Holland)

Over September the average daily price for power was £41.58/MWh and the spot price for gas was 41.25p/thm.

GB transmission connected demand stood at 0.74 TWh/day for power and 2.27 TWh/day for natural gas in September.
