Scottish Energy Minister Fergus Ewing will attend the Ocean Energy Europe 2014 this week in Paris on 2 October.
Amber Rudd, the British Energy Minister, has confirmed her attendance on 1 October.
Ewing will open the Paris conference on Day Two with a Keynote Address which will highlight Scotland’s activities in, and commitment to, the ocean energy sector. He said:
“The Scottish Government is firmly committed to the development of a successful marine renewable energy industry in Scotland.
“We have committed to achieving the EU 2020 target – 20% of EU’s energy consumption from renewable sources by 2020 – through a stated target of meeting 100% of Scotland’s electricity demand from renewable sources by 2020.”
Scotland will be well represented at the Ocean Energy Europe event – with attendance and participation from, among others, Tim Cornelius, Chief Executive, Atlantis Resources – which is developing the world’s largest tidal marine power array in the Pentland Firth off the north of Scotland.
