Tick. Tock. Time marches on towards D-Day – the deadline day of 7 December 2016 when the chief clerk of the Scottish parliament has to publish the publicly-held register of meetings held by Holyrood MSPs.
Yet day and daily – with the honourable exception of Green MSP Andy Wightman and Labour MSP Neil Findlay – MSPs continue to dig their heels in and refuse to voluntarily declare that which will be forced into the light of day by their clerk.
Many MSPs in the Scottish parliament are presently hiding behind the meretricious defence that they are not ‘public bodies’ for their excuse not to similarly voluntarily disclose their recently-passed diaries of meetings held in Holyrood.
Yet such ‘lobbying logs’ – containing the same sort of information – are already published by Malcolm Wickes, a Tory Euro MEP.
And David Mundell, the Scottish Tory MP and the British government minister for Scotland, and his deputy Lord Dunlop, now also voluntarily provide such information. See also below;

Scottish Energy News has a particular interest in energy-related matters and lodged the freedom of information writ after our reporter was physically banned from attending a meeting in Holyrood of the cross-party Scottish Parliament group on renewable energy and energy-efficiency on the orders of chief clerk Paul Grice.
