The fifth and final turbine in the world’s largest floating offshore wind parc has been anchored to the sea-bed, some 10 miles off the coast of Peterhead (pictured).
When generating electricity, the Hywind parc – owned by Norway’s Statoil company and a Middle East investor – will be able to power some 20,000 homes.
The £190 million cost was subsidised by electricity customers under the UK government’s Renewable Obligation Certificate subsidy scheme.
