Fletcher Shipping has taken delivery of the first of a pair of new boats to add to its existing Aberdeen-based fleet of four platform supply vessels.

The FS Cygnus was named by Karen Fletcher at Flekkefjord in Norway. She is the first new-build for the Fletcher fleet and the first of two sister ships being built by Norwegian shipyard Simek in a £44 million order.

The FS Scorpius, her sister-ship, is due for delivery in April 2015. Both ships are fitted out in Norway, with the hull and main superstructure built in sections by sub-contractors in Poland’s Baltic Sea ports of Gdansk and Gdynia.

Established in 2007 by Keith Fletcher, Managing Director, Fletcher Shipping is forecast to increase turnover this year by more than 60% compared to 2014. He said; “We took delivery of Cygnus last weekend. She’s been out working already and we’re confident about her commercial future”.
