
The Glasgow-based Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (OREC) has appointed Dame Anne Glover as a non-executive director.
A biologist and academic, Dame Anne is Vice-Principal for External Affairs and Dean for Europe at Aberdeen University.
She is a former Chief Scientific Adviser to the President of the European Commission and Chief Scientific Adviser for Scotland. She was joint chairman of the Scottish Science Advisory Committee and served on the Scottish Council of Economic Advisers until her appointment to Brussels in 2012.
Dame Anne has a BSc in Biochemistry from Edinburgh and a PhD in Molecular Microbiology from Cambridge. She has pursued a career in scientific research at Aberdeen University and her research has been varied, including studying how proteins are directed to the correct location within human cells.
In 2009, she was awarded a CBE by the Queen in recognition of her services to environmental sciences and became a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 2015 Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
