FoundOcean signs up BASF as investment partner for subsea cement

FoundOcean marine growth prevention units being installedSubsea grouting company FoundOcean – which specialises in the offshore energy construction industry – has signed a strategic agreement with chemicals company BASF for joint investment in material development.

BASF’s MasterFlow 9500 is the only product to have obtained the Type Approval Certificate (TAC) from certifying body DNV GL. Its ‘fit for purpose’ properties include rapid strength build-up even at low temperatures, supporting increased foundation installation rates.

Such material innovation is increasingly important in order to reduce the cost of offshore wind foundation installation and FoundOcean and BASF plan to use their combined knowledge and experience to facilitate further development in this area.

Jim Bell, Managing Director, FoundOcean, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for us both to work collaboratively to increase productivity through material and equipment innovation.”
