
Sir Bill Gammell is to step down as non-executive chairman of Cairn Energy at the company’s annual meeting in May 2014 after 25 years on the board.
Edinburgh-based Cairn Energy is one of Europe’s largest independent oil and gas exploration and development companies.
He will be succeeded by Ian Tyler, currently a non-executive director who was appointed two years ago.
Tyler was previously chief executive of Balfour Beatty and is also presently non-executive chairman of Al Noor Hospitals Group, Bovis Homes and a non-executive director of Cable & Wireless Communications and BAE Systems.
