North Sea oilfield services provider Glacier Energy has appointed Martin Kilmurry as managing director of its newly-created specialist services division.
This division comprises Glacier’s existing onsite machining operations, and heat transfer equipment manufacturing and refurbishment companies, Ross Offshore and MSL. It also provides non-destructive testing services through sister company Professional Testing Services.
Kilmurry will lead the integration of these operations into one business, allowing Glacier to provide its customers with a bundled service offering, deploying multi-skilled technicians onsite to deliver cost savings and other efficiencies.
Kilmurry – who was most recently UK business improvement director for Petrofac Facilities Management – has more than 30 years’ experience in industry, including automotive manufacturing in the US and upstream oil and gas in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Glacier Energy is targeting specific growth in the onshore upstream E&P and downstream infrastructure and facilities management sectors, building on its existing strong client base in the offshore upstream E&P and service market.
Glacier Energy Services has a staff of 230 people and its group of companies also includes precision pipe-cutting equipment and onsite services provider Roberts Machining Solutions, and weld overlay solutions specialist Wellclad. It operates significant business bases in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Fife and Newcastle, with international operations led from sites in Singapore and the Middle East.
Kilmurray said: “Glacier has tremendous potential for further growth, with its multi-skilled specialists offering significant time and cost savings by delivering inter-related services at the same time, without compromise to safety or quality.
“These are critical considerations as the energy sector looks to secure its long-term future despite the challenges of a reduced oil price.”
