Glasgow renewables consultancy forms commercial alliance with two partners in Chile

SgurrEnergy logo June 2014 largeGlasgow-based renewables consultancy Sgurr Energy has formed strategic partnerships with two energy companies in South America to develop business opportunities in the Chilean market.

This strategic move will see Sgurr Energy – part of the the Wood Group – combine with the local knowledge of Coener and Mankuk, to provide services to drive forward the renewable energy market in Chile.

Chile offers significant potential for renewable energy development, with a long-term shortage of power and industries which have a large power consumption, like mining.  The wind and solar resource in Chile is plentiful, creating many opportunities for the growth of renewables in the country.

Coener is a renewable energy consultancy, with 15 years’ experience in providing engineering solutions to clients on projects in Chile.  Mankuk is a consulting and management company focused on providing engineering, legal and environmental solutions to Chilean energy projects.

Luis Ljubetic, Coener chief executive, said: “This collaboration with Sgurr Energy will provide strength to our market offering and will enable us to bring a wider range of services to the developing Chilean renewables market.  We are looking forward to exploring the possibilities that this partnership will bring.”

Mauricio Compagnon, partner and director of Mankuk Consulting, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Sgurr Energy in our home market and driving renewable energy development opportunities in the region with combined expertise.”
