Grab up to £30,000 in Scottish local energy project funding by 10 October 2014

TChallenge-Fund-white-backgroundhe Scottish Government’s Local Energy Challenge Fund – which was launched on 18 August 2014 – is being delivered by Local Energy Scotland as part of the Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES).

The Local Energy Challenge Fund is the newest strand of CARES – with £20 million being made available to private, public and third sector organisations in order to support large-scale local low carbon demonstrator projects which show a local energy economy approach linking local energy generation to local energy use.

There are now just two more weeks left to submit applications into Phase 1 before the deadline of 10 October 2014.

These could include projects looking to develop innovative distribution and storage solutions, and with an overall aim to create more local value and benefit.

A two phase scheme, Phase 1 will support applications through a grant of up to £30,000, to develop the project proposal, complete early feasibility and prepare for Phase 2.

Support will be available from Local Energy Scotland throughout both phases.

Phase 1 is a simple application process mainly focused around setting out the vision and direction of the project.  Once submitted applications will be assessed by the Local Energy Challenge Fund Panel.
