Intertek, a leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide in particular the oil and gas areas, has appointed Neil Cousland as Business Development Director for its Exploration and Production (E&P) business line.
From the firm’s Aberdeen base, Mr Cousland will build on the successes of Intertek E&P, which employs more than 600 scientific and technical personnel across 11 countries.
Mr Cousland joins from Champion Technologies where he worked for almost ten years in positions including Business Development Manager and UK Business Manager. He has 20 years’ experience in the energy and chemicals sectors.
His initial focus will be on the North Sea region, with this subsequently expanding to incorporate a wider global remit. He will also be involved in developing Intertek’s service offering to augment the existing strong relationships the organisation has with key oil and gas companies, as well as reaching new client bases.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Cousland said:
“I am excited about this new challenge and look forward to bolstering the favourable position Intertek has in the oil and gas market. It is exciting to be part of expanding the business and shaping the future growth of the company.
“There is an opportunity for us to provide an enhanced service offering to the oil and gas sector as there is a vast portfolio of capabilities under our roof. This expertise is vital to both mature oil and gas basins to prolong asset life and maximise economic recovery and also new oil and gas provinces where Intertek’s skills are required to support the development of the industry.”
Originally from Edinburgh, Mr Cousland gained a BSc in Geology at St Andrews University. He began his career in the gas sector, where he held a number of sales and operations roles before moving into the chemicals industry.
“Mr Cousland brings a wealth of expertise to Intertek and we are glad to have him on board. Demand is increasing for our specialist services to support global exploration and production, reduce risk and bolster productivity, especially in marginal and mature fields.
“The time is right for us to capitalise on the opportunities both in established and fledgling oil and gas regions where we will provide local support backed by the experience in our centres of excellence. Our business model focuses on delivering analytical skills where clients need it and our future plans include establishing additional E&P facilities in new oil and gas provinces.”
Intertek’s E&P business line provides analytical, scientific and consultancy services along the entire oil and gas value chain – from reservoir to refinery. This ranges from flow assurance and production chemistry to hydrocarbon accounting and safety training.
