Speaking at the Scottish Labour Conference 2019 on 9 March, Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer John McDonnell MP told delegates that, under Labour, Scotland would be “at the heart of a Green Industrial Revolution” in the energy sector.
McDonnell reaffirmed the party’s pledge to develop offshore wind capacity in Scottish waters, with a planned 42GW of added capacity creating 15,000 jobs. In addition, a UK-wide home retrofitting programme could also create 15,000 more jobs in Scotland.
