The Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult provides integrated technology innovation services to enable the development and rapid commercialisation of technology solutions across the sector.
Established in 2003, the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) Ltd is the first and only centre of its kind in the world to provide developers of both wave and tidal energy converters – technologies that generate electricity by harnessing the power of waves and tidal streams – with purpose-built, accredited open-sea testing facilities. Qualified at least to Degree level in a Science, Business or Technical subject, you must have a proven track record developing new opportunities/projects in a service industry/energy/technology sector within a technical or commercial environment.
With solid bid-preparation experience, you’re a first-class communicator, strong on numeracy and interpersonal relations. Computer-literate in MS Office products, you can also communicate complicated project ideas clearly and concisely, and instinctively know how to link a project to strategic objectives to secure third party buy-in.

A key role at the heart of Policy and Awareness-raising for Ocean Energy in Europe. Working for Catapult – the UK Centre of Excellence for Offshore Renewable Energy – under secondment to Ocean Energy Europe in Brussels for the first two years.
Your key responsibility will be to raise awareness and set up the structures and processes to enable the Technology & Innovation Platform to operate successfully. You’ll work very closely with contacts within Director General for Research and Innovation (European Commission) to ensure that TIP Ocean provides the Commission and other stakeholders with an extremely high standard of analysis and recommendations.
Additionally, you’ll provide support on policy advocacy directly related to TIP Ocean, as well as engineering and technical input to wider policy briefs Qualified at least to Degree level in Engineering, Energy, Environment or a related discipline, and ideally with a post-graduate qualification, dependent on your professional experience, you must have a proven track record working with large private and public sector multi-stakeholder groups. We are looking to recruit a bright and creative communications intern to support us in communicating vento ludens core messages with a diverse range of audiences. Person specification:
- Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
- A working knowledge of online platforms including blogs and social networks
- Experience of web updating using a content management system
- An understanding of the UK renewables market, current debates and issues.
