Oil and gas logistics specialists Lubbers Transport Group (LTG) is set to double the size of its Aberdeen operations base as it embarks on the latest growth phase in the energy sector.

LTG has invested £1.2m to acquire land and develop adjacent to its premises in Peterseat Drive.  The enlarged facility will house a larger fleet of trucks and enable the company to process substantially more cargo through its base. Aberdeen is Lubbers’ main operational hub in the UK and links with its other locations in Newcastle and Great Yarmouth.

Lubbers also expects to employ more drivers and support staff in 2014 as it continues to grow its market share in the transport and logistics sector, where it currently services the offshore oil and gas industry in the North Sea.

Currently the company employs a total of 86 people as part of its UK operations and 265 throughout Europe.

The latest investment will provide 4000m of extra yard space and also the size of the office doubled to 280m2.

Tony Tailford, the managing director of RTH Lubbers, the UK arm of Lubbers Transport Group said: “This significant investment in our operations further reinforces our position within the oil and gas industry. Our close proximity to AberdeenHarbour and to many of the significant players in the North Sea is a major asset and this investment shows our commitment to the area and Energy sector ”

Signs of this are already starting to show with the company set to further add to its fleet of 120 trucks by the end of 2013. These new trucks come after the company announced a significant outlay for new trucks in 2012 as well as the introduction of the first 100 tonne 8-axle trailer in operation on UK roads in May of this year.

The company also introduced its first long distance routes from the UK to Eastern Europe and Africa on top of establishing a full time presence in Norway for the first time.

Mr Tailford added: “We have had an excellent 2013 and made significant strides in our core market areas.  This investment should ensure we are in the strongest position to continue this into 2014 enabling us to continue delivering a strong value add service to our customers.”

Lubbers Transport Group operates across Europe with bases in the UK, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Italy, Romania, Poland and Turkey.
