Four in 10 (39%) MSPs believe renewable energy, more than any other sector, has the highest growth potential for the next five years. Scottish Renewables presented the findings of independent research firm PA Advocacy, which conducted the survey last year, on 19 February.
Other sector like financial services, food and drink, and tourism were believed to have less potential.
Respondents thought the Scottish Government’s declaration of a climate emergency and the renewable energy sector’s potential to bring economic benefits where others cannot were determining factors.
Claire Mack, Scottish Renewables CEO, said the independent research demonstrated that “a low-carbon energy system powered by renewables will be the engine of our future economic growth”.
