EDF Renewables UK has announced that it has received planning consent for a modified design of its proposed Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm from the Scottish government.
In a 4 December press release, the company said that the new design uses 54 higher capacity turbines rather than 75 in the original proposal, delivering the same 450MW of capacity. The wind farm is expected to be operational by 2023, with a total investment of £1.8bn.
Matthias Haag, EDF Renewables UK NnG Project Director, said: “We are excited to move forward delivering this milestone project for Scotland which will provide low-carbon energy for decades to come.”
