Oilgen – the Aberdeen-based reservoir engineering consultancy – has appointed a new staff reservoir engineer.

Theo Sketopoulos, 26, studied for a degree in mineral resource engineering at the Technical University in Crete, followed by a postgraduate degree in petroleum engineering at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh.

During his studies, he investigated analytical techniques used to model fluid flow to predict how reservoirs behave under various development scenarios, and has experience in reservoir engineering, reservoir simulation, and well test analysis.

Oilgen is currently working on projects in the North Sea, France, Egypt, West Africa and Holland for top names in the oil and gas industry, and recently launched Oilgen USA Ltd to help petroleum companies acquire the best onshore oil and gas assets in America.

Sketopoulos will primarily work on projects for the American division focusing on modelling unconventional reservoirs and shale reservoirs.
