Omega Subsea UK – which provides project personnel to the wind, oil and gas sectors – has taken over Aberdeen-based recruitment firm Accpron UK for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition comes just one year after Omega Subsea was established in the UK.
During that time the firm secured a clutch of contracts with operators and tier one contractors in the subsea and oil and gas sectors in the North Sea, Mediterranean and West Africa.
The firm expects to turnover around £2.5 million for its first year of combined operation.
Accpron UK was established in 2011 to provide qualified and experienced personnel to the subsea and ROV industries. The firm was led by general manager Keith Robathan who will now hold the same role with Omega Subsea.
All of Accpron’s staff, comprised mainly of project personnel, will transfer to Omega Subsea and operate from its premises at Crichiebank Business Centre, Inverurie.
The two companies had previously worked together as preferred partners, and clients of both firms will now benefit from a greater depth of service as a result of their combined expertise.
Omega Subsea will continue to concentrate on providing project management teams, but will also offer specialist teams to deliver focused commercial, contractual and HSEQ support services.
Although the drilling and subsurface engineering, decommissioning, and onshore and marine renewable markets will remain important to Omega Subsea, it aims to diversify into other sectors.
Alistair McKee, Managing Director, Omega Subsea UK, said: “This acquisition represents a good fit for both companies in these challenging market conditions
“The combined company resources and increased diversity of our candidate portfolio will aid the targeted expansion of our service offering to the energy industry. It also provides an impetus to expand across a wider industry geography.”
Omega Subsea UK is the UK division of Norwegian project management firm Omega AS. The international business has 15 offices around the world and supports clients operating in a diverse range of industries. It currently has over 1,100 consultants on assignment.
