Aberdeen-based Aiken Group – the offshore accommodation, engineering and construction services group – has appointed six new directors in a management restructure aimed at helping to take the company to the next level.
The rapid-growth company – which specialises in accommodation upgrades and refurbishments – is now wholly owned by managing director Danny Donald and commercial director Norman Mackay. In 2013, Aiken Group reported a rise in revenues to just over £13 million.
In a bid to facilitate further development of the business, Alex Wood has been promoted to the role of sales and marketing director and Richard Lamb has become operations director.
Dave Mair has been announced as business development director, Eric Scott as proposals director, Tommy Smith as engineering director and Christine Bateman as HR director.
In addition, the company plans to recruit two HVAC and two electrical apprentices before the end of the year, adding to the three apprentices who have already joined the team since the start of 2014.
Danny Donald said: “We believe that restructuring our management team in this way is vital in securing ongoing, organic growth across Aiken Group’s divisions.
“Promoting directors internally facilitates the creation of management roles, thus enabling a successful balance of long-serving personnel with many years of experience and fresh new faces who embody the next generation of the business and the wider industry.”
He added: “We also have a long standing commitment to providing training opportunities for apprentices and we look forward to helping our young new recruits develop their skills set in parallel with the company’s own future aspirations.”
One of Aiken Group’s recent projects comprised the delivery and installation of an offshore office and laboratory module to Texaco Chevron’s Captain oilfield. The 67-tonne module was designed, engineered, and managed by Aiken Group throughout all stages of manufacture. It was fitted out at Clipper Quay, Aberdeen, before being shipped offshore.
