International engineering consultant Offshore Wind Consultants (OWC) announced on 24 October that it is opening an office in Edinburgh to tap into Scotland’s growing offshore wind sector.
Offshore wind expert Scott Sutherland, who has previously held managerial roles with CWind, RWE Npower Renewables, E.ON Climate & Renewables, and Siemens Energy Service, has been employed to head the company’s operations in the Edinburgh office. He will also be part of OWC’s global advisory, engineering and project management assignments within offshore wind.
The decision to operate in Scotland will allow OWC to access the marine and offshore competence of its sister company in Aberdeen and Edinburgh, AqualisBraemar.
Kathrine Phillips, OWC’s UK country manager, said: “Scotland is home to many offshore wind development companies and is spearheading floating wind in the UK. Furthermore, with the planned launch of ScotWind and its likely inclusion of floating wind projects, it makes perfect sense to set up a permanent operation here and bring our significant floating experience closer to local developers and projects.”
