OGA Chairman challenges sector to respond to energy transition

Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) Chairman Tim Eggar said in a speech to senior industry leaders in Aberdeen on 15 January that the oil and gas industry’s “social licence to operate” is under serious threat. The transcript of the speech was posted on OGA’s website on 28 January.

He suggested industry would need to develop a package of measures to drive net zero, including the offshore industry committing to clear measurable greenhouse gas targets, showing progress on carbon capture and storage and on energy integration opportunities, such as electrification projects.
