The company will introduce its pioneering Skye™ 51kW medium wind turbine system at EWEA (Stand 7E115) to show delegates as part of a long term strategy to establish a pan-European network of partners, dealers and reseller for its product range.
Steve McMahon VP Sales and Marketing for Orenda believes the European market is ready to embrace the cost effectiveness of this completely new concept in wind turbine design.
“We have only been established in the UK for nine months and a lot has happened in such a short window. We created a stir at the Renewables UK exhibition in Birmingham last November, but EWEA gives us a ‘shop window’ to the growing demand for small/medium turbines amongst developers and specifiers looking for tomorrow’s wind turbine technology today.
“We have keen interest from several European countries already, so we’re looking forward to seeing what EWEA has in store for us.”
Orenda’s Skye™ 51kW includes a patent-pending rotor speed control system to optimise output production while operating inside a safe envelope. The technology utilises a real-time hydrostatic speed control unit. Skye™ has a range of unique, patented hinging towers that operate hydraulically.
The truly unique, innovative element is the patented multi-pivot point technology which allows for large nacelles to be raised and lowered to heights of up to 36m. The main advantages of this design include:
•Reduced lifetime costs due to no requirement for cranes and road access
•Safety – servicing at ground level; no need to climb
•Minimum disruption to land use through no special purpose road requirement
•Turbines can be lowered and secured ahead of gales, tornadoes, hurricanes etc.
