Aberdeen flange tool kings awarded for export growth
Scottish-headquartered Equalizer International – which designs and develops flange maintenance tools for the energy sector – has been recognised for its Achievement in International Business by an Aberdeen business association.
The latest award recognises the company’s success in increasing its global presence after opening its first overseas base in Houston two years ago. It now sells its products to more than 50 countries through a network of distributors in six continents.
In January 2015, Equalizer International launched two new divisions – Equalizer Americas and Equalizer Asia – under the banner of the Equalizer Group. The company was set up in 1994 in Aberdeen.
Ian McCormick, Chairman, Equalizer Group, commented: “We really value this award because it recognises the work which has gone in around the world to support our growth.
“We truly are a global company, with more than 85% of our sales now coming from exporting.
“However we also want to ensure that we continue to have strong visibility in the local oil and gas market so that we can benchmark our company and our products against others operating in this very niche market.”

Petrofac wins oil training contract with Shell Iraq
Petrofac’s training service division has won a multi-million dollar technical training contract with Shell Iraq – its fourth win with a major operator in the country.
Effective October 2015, Petrofac Training Services (PTS) has joined Shell in the management and operation of Shell’s Majnoon training centre in the Majnoon oil field development in Southern Iraq for two years, with an optional one year extension.
The centre was opened in 2013 and has focused on providing quality technical and non-technical training to the Majnoon workforce. Through its focus on competency development the training centre is making a strong contribution to the growth of Iraqi capabilities.
Petrofac was first awarded a contract by Shell to deliver engineering, procurement and construction management at Majnoon in 2011 and now operates in four locations across the country on projects worth a total of more than $1 billion.
The company is also working with Iraq’s South Oil Company on the crude oil expansion project to provide offshore operations and maintenance services for new oil export facilities in the Persian Gulf.
