
Dr Liane Smith – Managing Director and Founder of global well-integrity management specialists Wood Group Intetech – was the winner of the Inspiring Leader category at the recent offshore achievement awards in recognition of her contribution to the UK’s oil and gas sector and her pioneering work in the fields of well integrity management and corrosion engineering.
Through her work at WGI, Dr Smith has led the development of industry-leading well integrity and corrosion software that has helped to shape the industry’s approach to asset integrity management
In addition to her professional achievements, Dr Smith is an active proponent of graduate training programmes and mentoring schemes.
Gordon Ballard, Chairman, Schlumberger, won the Significant Achievement Award. Beyond his work at Schlumberger, he has shown his dedication to the industry as chairman of OPITO International, chairman of the UK Oil & Gas Industry Council and a board member of Oil & Gas UK and PILOT. He is also a previous co-chair of Step Change in Safety.
Meanwhile, energy services firm Proserv was named Great Large Company at the recent Society of Petroleum Engineers’ Offshore Achievement Awards.
The company was honoured with the top title in recognition of its excellent performance in the offshore energy sector including its successful business growth and clear strategy for continued expansion.
David Lamont, Chief Executive, Proserv, said: “This is important recognition of the achievements made by the entire team at a time when the industry is experiencing major challenges.”
