Shale gas must not only be safe, but must be seen to be safe. Proven technologies such as well integrity management systems could distinctly and positively impact the way the industry is perceived, says Dr. LIANE SMITH, founder and Managing Director of Wood Group Intetech – the well-integrity management group.

 

Shale gas has the potential to make a significant contribution to ensuring energy security and reduce the UK’s reliance on imports. In the US for example, vast deposits of shale gas should enable it to predominantly rely upon a domestic supply of gas for many years and produce more than it consumes.
