On Friday 10th October WiRES Scotland will address two critical topics in women’s career progression: organisational politics and work-life balance.
The event – which is being held in Glasgow – will cover topics that are often seen as critical issues in women’s career progression. WiRES, REA, keynote, speaker
This is one of a series of networking events which brings together WiRES members and friends – and is a wonderful opportunity for women from private, public and third sector backgrounds who work in renewables, to mingle and catch up over drinks and canapes.
WiRES will have Dr Nina Skorupska, Chief Executive of the Renewable Energy Association (REA) as a keynote speaker.
Dr Skorupska has over 25 years in the energy industry and began her career as a fuel specialist but moved quickly into power stations which led to her being appointed the first female Power Station Manager of RWE npower. Since that time she has led a UK Energy Trading team for RWE, followed by being RWE npower’s Director of Technology Services.
She has worked in Germany as RWE Group’s Director of Performance Improvement, where she went on to save them over €2 billionn on operating costs.
From May 2010 until the end of 2012, as Chief Technology Officer, she was an executive member of the Board of Essent N.V., the Netherlands’ largest energy company, and responsible for Essent’s Generation portfolio and new energy developments.
In 2012, she became a Supervisory Board member for DNV GL Energy in the Netherlands, a position that she continues to enjoy today.
In July 2013 she took the helm of the Renewable Energy Association as its Chief Executive.
In 2014 she joined the Board of Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) and has recently been voted onto the Board of the European Renewable Energies Foundation (EREF) and she will share experiences from her own career path.
Aimed at women from all occupations and career levels within renewable energy and sustainable development, WiRES has an exciting agenda, including group exercises, a panel discussion, a Q&A session and of course plenty of opportunity to network.
Other speakers and panellists include:
