German consultancy 8.2 Group has joined forces with Aarufield to create a new UK consolidated renewables consultancy led by Julian Brown, Chairman of the RenewableUK trade association.

The new company – called 8.2 Aarufield – aims to provide high-end technical, commercial and financial advice to the wind, solar and biomass sectors in the UK.

Chairman Julian Brown said: “We have come together to build on the strength of the 8.2 Group – which has performed more than 20,000 wind turbine inspections since it started 20 years ago – and the unparalleled experience of the Aarufield team.

“We work with investors, utilities, developers and businesses right through the supply chain to ensure they deliver projects on schedule and within budget and that they optimise their assets with the least technical and commercial risk.”

Charles Dugué, Chief Executive of 8.2 Consulting, added: “Aarufield has only been in operation for 12 months but it was long enough to build a strong reputation for supporting clients by helping them optimise assets and de-risk their projects, and be recognised as a solid investment opportunity. We are delighted to be joining forces with Aarufield to grow our UK business together.”

Brown is also chairman of the North Sea renewables group, Norstec.
