RPMI Railpen purchases Scottish wind farm

RPMI Railpen, which manages £30bn of assets on behalf of the railways pension schemes, announced on 12 March that it has purchased 90% of Carraig Gheal Wind Farm in Argyll and Bute from renewable energy developer GreenPower International.

The 46MW wind farm has been operational since 2013 and generates enough electricity a year to power roughly 32,000 households.

GreenPower International will retain a 10% shareholding in the wind farm and will continue to provide ongoing operations and commercial management services to the project.

Railpen’s purchase adds to last year’s acquisition of Tralorg Wind Farm in South Ayrshire.
