Salix Finance announced on 27 February that Highland Council is set to benefit from energy efficiency upgrades part-funded by Salix Finance.
The council has invested £7mn of funding in energy efficiency projects across the non-domestic estate, with a focus on schools and leisure facilities. £3.5mn investment has been provided by the council and £3.5mn match funding was provided by the Scottish Government through Salix Finance.
In schools, the bulk of the fund will be invested in LED upgrades, while some will go towards the replacement of old and poor performing oil boilers.
The fund aims to increase long-term investment in energy-efficient technologies across the public sector by enabling clients to reinvest savings from previous projects to finance further energy reduction schemes.
