“In the 30 years from 2011, 98.8% of UK offshore oil production will come from Scotland’s geographical share of the UK continental shelf “

– Prof. Alex Kemp, oil and gas, expert, Aberdeen University.

This comment – and the accompanying graphic – was published in the Scottish Government’s White Paper on Independence.

This paper is being debated today from 2pm in Holyrood. Given the SNP Government’s absolute majority of MPs in the Scottish Parliament, the government is expected to win the debate approving the White Paper.

Voters in Scotland go to the polls on the Independence Referendum on 18 September 2014.
