The date and venue for Scotland’s National Community Energy Conference 2014 has been announced.
Carola Bell, Chair of Community Energy Scotland said:
“This year we will gathering in Edinburgh for a two day event on Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th November.”
“The conference this year will really build on and update our successful event in Glasgow last year. Focussing on retaining and adding local value through community ownership of our own energy, the conference will be bringing together all the strands of the community energy and local energy economy agenda, from finance to regulation, and from planning to technologies. I’d like to encourage everyone with an interest in the increasing role of communities in control and ownership of their own energy generation and wise energy use to attend.”
She added:
“As members of the Scottish Community Energy Coalition, we are making sure this November’s conference will be the most collaborative event we have staged.
“We will be joined by our partners in projects, funding and academia to provide our community and associate members with a comprehensive opportunity to network, learn and exchange ideas.”
2014 is an exciting but uncertain time for the community energy movement. It is becoming clear that Scotland will both need to change and can benefit hugely from the way it generates and distributes the local power we all need. November will be an opportune time to place communities and local energy economies at the heart of Scotland’s energy future.
Carola concluded:
“The Edinburgh Conference will showcase some community energy projects too, and we want to add conference content which members feel is most valuable. Please get in touch with your ideas! We will be building on our international elements, after last year’s highly successful introduction of speakers and sessions from Canada, Faeroe and Germany.”
