The Scottish Energy Association – the independent, all-energy sector trade body – is to showcase the UK’s largest pilot project of a local energy market at its annual conference tomorrow (23 February) in Glasgow.
Matt Hastings, Programme Director for Local Energy Systems at Centrica plc, is one of the key speakers at the Energy Scotland conference.
Hastings is directing the UK’s largest trial of local energy markets, combining flexible demand, energy storage and local energy supply to address electricity system constraints in Cornwall.
Hector Grant, Chief Executive, Scottish Energy Association, said: “With high levels of renewable generation and rural electricity networks, Cornwall faces many challenges that are familiar to renewable energy generators in Scotland.
“The SEA conference is an opportunity to hear Matt discuss the innovative approaches being applied in Cornwall.”
