Scottish energy associations hold summer conferences on oil, gas, renewables, solar and hydrogen fuels

Fossil fuels and renewablesThe following Scottish renewables, oil and gas industry association events are being held later this summer in Scotland.

* Energy North 2015 Awards: 29 October: Inverness

* Solar Trade Association: 25 September: Edinburgh: Low Carbon Building Challenge

Solar PV has now exceeded 8GW of capacity in the UK, enough to provide electricity to 2.4m homes. In addition the STA estimates around 200,000 homes have installed solar thermal generating most of their hot water needs throughout the spring and summer. The rooftop solar resource on homes and businesses is very significant, but surprisingly only 7% of new homes have solar included. Costs have fallen very dramatically for installed PV and the opportunity for homes.”

* Scottish Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association: 11 September: Edinburgh: Innovation in Fuel Cell Technology
