The first of four 210-metre high wind turbines has been erected at an onshore wind farm in southern Finland – with owner’s engineer support from Scottish renewable energy consultancy, Sgurr Energy.

The Nordex N131/3000 wind turbines are among the tallest to be installed onshore in the world.

Sgurr Energy, part of the Wood Group conglomerate, has advised on the 12MW Tyrinselkä wind farm since the early stages of the project, drawing on expertise across all disciplines to provide a range of services including engineering support and wind analysis.

Appointed as owner’s engineer in early 2014, SgurrEnergy supported the project through the pre-construction phase and assisted in achieving financial close in July 2015.

Katherine Blum, Sgurr Energy project manager, said: “With its six tower sections and 64.4m long blades, it is tremendous to see the sheer scale of the wind turbines installed this week, and the achievements to date are a result of the hard work from all involved in the project and their respective expertise.”
