Scottish Water is seeking tenders from companies interested in installing three biomass boilers.
The nationalised utility plans to install these at three off grid water treatment works sites in Dumfries and Galloway, at:
Black Esk (100kw)
Penwhim (90kw)
Glengap (100kw)
The deadline for expressions of interest is 7 November and the successful bidder(s) will be announced on 31 December 2014.
The water board has not provided details of the value of this contract.
It is intended to use the biomass system as the primary heat source for all domestic site heating requirements. Scottish Water requires a supplier to design, install and provide an extended maintenance programme for all three sites.
It is envisaged that the engineered solution will incorporate the existing fuel oil heating systems to provide a backup heat source to the biomass system.
