Scottish Power and SSE denied Ofgem funding

On Friday 18 October, energy regulator Ofgem announced its final decision on electricity distribution funding requests, denying Scottish energy firms a total of £142mn in funding. Among those refused was a £30mn request by Scottish & Southern Energy Network (SSEN) for cable replacement at Pentland Firth East. In addition, Ofgem refused a £70mn request sought by Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN) for cable repairs, and a further £42mn request to increase network capacity in anticipation of the uptake of electric vehicles.
