ScottishPower pledges to invest in offshore wind

ScottishPower announced on 7 March that some of the £6bn of investment it announced on 26 February that it would be spending in the UK up to 2022 would be spent on developing offshore wind. This news follows the government’s announcement of an Offshore Wind Sector Deal.

In February, ScottishPower set out plans to develop a further 1GW pipeline of onshore wind projects by 2025. It sees substantial opportunities for the continued development of onshore wind projects across Scotland and the rest of the UK and plans to engage with the Crown Estate and Crown Estate Scotland on seabed leasing.

ScottishPower Chief Executive Keith Anderson said: “We have a fantastic supply chain already in place in the UK, from businesses in and around East Anglia to across England, across Scotland as well as Northern Ireland. The Sector Deal will attract even more businesses in the UK to join the offshore wind supply chain and we are excited to see the transformative impact this will have on our projects.”
